Movie Review#2: "Sundo"

Author: admin // Category:
.
Sundo is another Filipino suspense-thriller film from director Topel Lee under GMA Films. The movie stars Robin Padilla, Katrina Halili, Rhian Ramos, Hero Angeles, Mark Bautista and Sunshine Dizon. It was released in the Philippines last March 18, 2009. In Sundo, a retired military operative who goes into seclusion discovers that he has the uncanny ability of seeing ghosts around people who will soon encounter sudden, disastrous deaths. Worried of his brother, Romano’s blind sister Isabel (Rhian Ramos) persuades him to return to Manila with the help of Louella (Sunshine Dizon), Romano’s childhood friend who harbours affection for him.
.
An aspiring actress, Kristina (Katrina Halili), a widow, Lumen (Glydel Mercado), and his son, Eric (Hero Angeles) hitch a ride with Romano, Isabel and Louella along with Louella’s driver, Baste (Mark Bautista). On their way back to the city, the group manages to avoid a fatal accident on the road and their respective “sundo” by a twist of fate. Unaware that their sudden brush with death would cause them the most ruthless battle they will ever come to face. In Romano’s hands lie the fates of his companions as he tries to uncover the mystery behind his premonitions. At the end of the story, everyone was kicked off with their Sundo as all of them died hilariously
.
The movie made me scarred specially with the twist ending but an error with the story-flow made me laughed when Robin Padilla had an action scenes and violent “military-gun” stunts, thus, making it an ordinary action film that he has produced over the past years. For a rating of PG-13 , this film definitely is not suitable for minors. But inspite of that, I still salute the director and scriptwriter for opening my mind that each and everyone of us has an end and has a “Sundo”. Overall rate from 1-10 is “7”.

Movie Review#1: T2 (Tenement 2)

Author: admin // Category:
As a part of an itinerary of a busy yuppie lifestyle, one of my friends suggested me to have a corner for movie/film reviewing. Since most of the yuppies love to watch and want to spend their money in movies. Now I am giving my first review..and that is the T2(Tenement 2),
.
T2 (Tenement 2) is an suspense-horror Star Cinema film starring Diamond Star Maricel Soriano. Members of the cast include Derek Ramsey, Eric Fructuoso, and Mica dela Cruz. The movie was directed by the award-winning horror film director Chito Rono. T2 refers to Tenement 2, one of the buildings in FTI located in Taguig City where some of the scenes were shot. In the movie, Maricel Soriano plays a Save an Orphan Foundation volunteer who brings an orphan home only to discover that the girl comes from a family of “engkantos.”

It was great and fabulous! I have never seen a film like this before. The movie was very close to reality eventhough their fictious event seems to be impossible to happened and yet most of the Filipinos realy believe in "Engkantos". Well the story of engcantos is part of the Filipino culture specially when it comes to story telling of a horror scene. I think the full staff and cast gave their best to research everything about the storry. Though, I was a little bit dumbfounded with how fast the movement of the story went. From Samar, up to the Tagalog islands, to Manila, each of the places connects the story to a deeper sense of belief that Engkantos lived among us. The six minute special effects that Mr. Chito Roño and the people of Roadrunner Network made was as flawless as everyone expected it to be. The golum-like creature scared the hell out of me.Maricel Soriano, did a world-class acting job, as she delivered a superb and strong acting prowess. She gave her character justice, since Clair (the character she played) was quite a tough cookie to break. Apparently, she did stun me.Mica dela Cruz yet was such a charm. I wasn't blinking watching her eyes speak. Her character, Angeli, seemed to be easy, but it wasn't. Kudos for the good acting job in her age. Those eyes could speak what the mouth couldn't.The cast was perfect. The mood was heavily entertaining. Overall rate from 1-10 is "9". The movie has a heart for those who felt they're alone in the world.

Congratulations to Star Cinema and to the full casts and I believe that this film will surely a big hit in the market and will include in the successful lists of Box Office Filipino Films.
